Inspiring young people to explore the exciting career opportunities within science, technology, engineering, and maths (STEM)

My Skills My Life is WISE’s outreach platform, designed to connect young people with the full breadth of careers across science, technology, engineering and maths. 

Using real women’s stories, and a strengths‑based matching tool, it helps young people, particularly girls, discover roles aligned to their skills, interests and ambitions. 

By making STEM careers visible, relatable and achievable, My Skills My Life helps more young people see where they belong, and supports organisations to build stronger, more diverse talent pipelines.

Why it matters

Girls are 33% more likely to consider STEM careers if they know or see a woman in STEM

60% of women in STEM have been inspired by a role model

Students who engage in STEM activities are 3.5 times more likely to understand what STEM professionals do

The future of STEM depends on who sees it as an option. 

Too often, talented young people are excluded before they even start, not through lack of ability, but lack of visibility and access.

We offer My Skills My Life Ambassador workshops for members and non-members as well as public training courses for individuals that are designed to equip STEM professionals with the skills and confidence to deliver impactful outreach sessions to young people, especially girls.
