The WISE Young Professionals Committee (WYPC) was established to give early-career STEM professionals a platform to grow as leaders, build meaningful networks, and shape the future of equity and inclusion in STEM.
We’re looking for passionate early-career STEM professionals who want to champion gender equity, bring fresh perspectives and help create a more inclusive future for women in STEM.
Bringing together diverse voices in STEM
Made up of individuals from a wide range of STEM roles and organisations, WYPC brings together diverse perspectives and lived experiences to champion women in STEM.
Acting as visible role models and allies, they work to promote equity, diversity, and inclusion across their fields.
Through dedicated workstreams, the group supports initiatives, builds partnerships, and creates engaging content to inspire and connect with young people and women in STEM, all while advancing the WISE mission.

How you’ll make an impact
Communications and outreach
Create and share content to promote gender equity in STEM, highlight visible role models, and support ongoing campaigns across digital and social platforms.
Engagement and advocacy
Participate in podcasts and public forums to share personal experiences, amplify diverse voices, and collaborate with experts to advocate for inclusion in STEM.
Relationship building
Bridge the gap between the next generation of STEM professionals and current industry leaders by fostering external partnerships and strengthening professional networks.
Support for WISE initiatives
Actively contribute to WISE events and campaigns, providing hands-on support and representation to help maximise impact and reach.
Could you be our next WYPC member?
We are looking for someone who is passionate about gender equity in STEM and committed to WISE’s mission to ensure that women in STEM experience inclusive, equitable workplaces where they can contribute, develop and sustain fulfilling careers.
Whilst this is a volunteer role, members of the WYPC must be able to devote sufficient time and commitment to the role.
This includes:
- Four day-long committee meetings plus preparation/travel time within the UK.
- Four intermediary half-day online committee meetings a year.
- Subcommittee meetings as arranged by member teams through the year.
- It is expected that committee members attend flagship WISE events such as the WISE conference and awards.
Key skills
- During their time on the Committee, individuals will have opportunities to further develop personal and professional skills, including communication, public speaking and policy/governance.
- Experience and/or passion for gender equity in STEM.
Eligibility criteria
You must be:
- Studying and/or working in a STEM industry.
- An employee of a WISE Member organisation.
- Under the age of 35 when you apply.
- Able to give sufficient time and commitment to the role. This is outlined in the person specification above.
