Assystem

Assystem is ranked among the world’s top two independent nuclear engineering leaders. With over 60 years’ experience in highly regulated sectors, the group supports public and industrial stakeholders in the delivery of complex and strategic infrastructure projects, subject to stringent safety and security requirements.

At Assystem, advancing gender equity is integral to our ambition to lead the nuclear, defence and infrastructure sectors. We recognise that meaningful progress requires long-term commitment, which is why our approach focuses on sustainable, systemic change rather than short term targets.

Our IncredibleWomen programme sits at the heart of our commitment to supporting women in STEM. It is built around three core pillars: inspiring girls and young women to see STEM as a viable and exciting career path; retaining talent by creating an inclusive, supportive workplace; and enabling women to thrive through fulfilling, long-term career development.

This commitment is brought to life through a range of impactful initiatives. EmpowHER, our annual mentoring programme, connects women across the UK with senior leaders to provide tailored mentorship alongside professional development workshops. In 2025, Assystem became a sponsor of the Women and Work All-Party Parliamentary Group, reinforcing our influence beyond our organisation, with an Assystem hosted event planned for International Women in Engineering Day in 2026.

Internally, our ED&I Gender Pillar delivers events and awareness campaigns, such as our International Women’s Day Lunch and Learn addressing confidence gaps for women in the workplace. Through our Energised by Sport initiative, we sponsored a local under 16s girls’ football team and provided visible STEM role models through a presentation from one of our employees.

Together, these actions demonstrate our leadership in championing women in STEM today and for future generations.
